"I do not believe that civilization will be wiped out in a war fought with the atomic bomb. Perhaps two-thirds of the people of the Earth might be killed, but enough men capable of thinking, and enough books, would be left to start again, and civilization could be restored."

—Albert Einstein (1875-1955) German-born American theoretical physicist, theories of relativity, philosopher

My Town Newberg Coloring Book

The My Town Newberg coloring and activity book, featuring local landmarks and businesses, is on sale now as a fundraiser for the library's children's area expansion.

Available for $5.00 per copy at the library, the book, with the art of more than a dozen local artists, kicks off the fund-raising campaign for the children's area remodel.

Preliminary expansion plans include increasing the 1500 square foot space by 40%, which will provide space for more books as well as seating areas for reading, study space for homework, and a family restroom.

The current space, built 20 years ago, is extremely crowded with over 23,000 books and other materials and often 20 to 30 patrons in the children's area at a time. Other fundraisers will soon be in place for the project which is estimated to cost $700,000

Among other improvements, there are plans to reduce the noise that drifts upstairs from the lobby.

The coloring book was designed and printed at no cost by Vineyard Graphics.
